Wards (Level 2, 3 & 4) ![]() We offer the following accommodation, subject to availability and based on the medical and nursing needs of our patients. Our 5 wards (Respect, Faith, Compassion, Hope and Peace) are located on levels 2, 3 and 4. 6- or 8- Bedded Room Fan-ventilated rooms of either six or eight beds are each fitted with shared bathroom facilities and television. Single Bedroom Air-conditioned single bedroom with attached bathroom facilities and television. |

Wellness Centre (Level 2) We hold an array of activities and programmes for the older persons here. The Centre is mocked up to be as similar to that of a normal home setting. Older persons are trained here to better-equip them to perform simple tasks independently while they are at home with little or no assistance available to them. Operating hours: Monday to Friday (8.30 am – 5.30 pm) Saturday (for ad-hoc programmes only) Public Holiday (Closed) c. Dental Clinic (Level 3) Operating hours: Monday (2:00 pm – 5:00 pm) d. Barber (Level 3) Operating hours: Third Saturday of every month. Service is currently open to inpatients only. e. Prayer Room (Level 2) It is specially set up for patients who need some quiet moments to say their prayers or meditate. f. V Café (Level 2) Serve vegetarian food only; including a wide variety of other snacks, desserts, drinks, etc. Operating hours: Monday to Friday (11.30 am – 1.30 pm) Saturday and Sunday (To be advised) Closed on Public Holidays. g. Inpatient Service a. Sub Acute Care Under our sub-acute care services, we provide continued rehabilitative care and specialized treatment to prepare patients for discharge. For patients who can no longer stay in an acute care facility and yet not completely well, BVH’s sub-acute care programme helps by optimising their condition before they return home. b. Rehabilitation Our patients are treated to regain independence in their daily activities under our comprehensive in-patient Rehabilitation programme. This programme focuses on patients who require an extended period of rehabilitation to restore and improve physical functions and delay function deterioration. Through careful and in-depth assessments, we formulate individualized rehabilitative routines/ exercises that are tailored to suit each patient’s unique needs and abilities. Our trained therapists evaluate, treat, monitor and educate patients with care and dedication. c. Palliative Care BVH’s Palliative Care service provides in-depth assessment and management of patients with advanced and terminal illnesses. We are supported by a team of trained therapists and caregivers, who are devoted to provide relief and counseling to patients and their families. d. Long-Term Care BVH’s long-term care consists of two main programmes: Nursing Home Care and Chronic Sick Care. Long-term care programme focuses on providing quality medical and nursing care for the elderly and chronic sick. |

Outpatient Service a. Geriatric Assessment BVH provides a comprehensive geriatric assessment programme involving different healthcare professionals working together to help patients with geriatric syndromes and multiple problems. Geriatric syndromes, include problem in walking, frequent falls, memory deterioration, incontinence and multiple medical conditions. We also provide follow-up or review for patients who have been discharged from our comprehensive care services. b. Day Rehabilitation The Day Rehabilitation Programme caters to patients who require extended period of rehabilitation to restore and improve their physical functions as an outpatient. Transport may be provided where possible. This programme is highly recommended for patients recuperating from strokes, hip fractures or medical conditions that affect the proper functioning of the person's daily activities. c. Day Care BVH’s Day Care service provides simple maintenance rehabilitative and social activities for the elderly. This service assures family members that their loved ones are well taken care of while they are at work during the day. Transportation will be provided where posssible. Home Care Service Home Care Service is introduced to provide domiciliary medical and nursing care to the needy and elderly who have difficulty getting out of their homes. We also assist in the coordination of services and care to the patients and their family members, aiming to minimize health care costs and maximize the use of available social services. Our mobile squad of doctor, nurse and social worker make daily home visits. We adopt a holistic approach in our patient care, with provision of general medical follow-up with treatment, nursing, social assistance and counseling. |

Other Services a. Physio & Occupational Therapy We have a team of therapists to assess and plan personalized treatments and activities to prevent dysfunction, maintain, restore and enhance levels of performance for our patients. Our aim is to help patients regain their mobility through gentle but effective exercises and massages. Our Physiotherapists use physical therapeutic methods to achieve maximum recovery effect on our patients. Treatments are prescribed to help patients to relief pain, restore physical bodily capability and strength, prevent further injury and promote healthy lifestyles. Our Occupational Therapists evaluate patients’ daily activities and recommend purposeful and enabling activities to enhance patients’ abilities to perform their daily activities. Some of the recommendations include environmental modification, task adaptation and the use of assistance aids and devices.

Speech, Swallowing & Audio Therapy BVH provides a wide range of Speech, Swallowing & Audio therapy services for our patients. Patients who have difficulties in the understanding or using of spoken or written messages, the pronouncing of sounds, voice disorders, swallowing or chewing and hearing impairment can seek help by making an appointment with our specialists. Our range of services includes: c. Nutrition & Dietetics Nutrition and dietetics in BVH is a core component in the overall managed care of our patients. Our in-house dietician and nutritionist offer both medical nutrition and diet counseling services to inpatients, outpatients and their caregivers. Medical nutrition therapy services such as nutrition screening, assessment, intervention and education are also available for patients. We serve only vegetarian meals to our patients as it has been scientifically proven that it can control the patients’ illness and thus improve their health. With well-planned and meticulously designed vegetarian menus, our patients will not only get to receive all the vitamins and minerals needed for a balanced diet, but also taste and enjoy the meals specially prepared for them. d. Pharmaceutical Pharmaceutical care involves medication dispensing and patient counseling to ensure proper use of medication. Our pharmacist acts as a link between our doctors and patients being involved in the daily review of patients medication records with the doctors. e. Podiatry BVH’s podiatrist assesses and manages complications of the feet. Our podiatrist evaluates and determines the cause of our patients’ foot problems. Management plan is designed to aid recovery and prevent recurrence of patients’ foot problems associated with localized and systemic diseases. Common feet complications due to diseases such as diabetes require specialized care and treatment. At BVH, this aspect of care is not neglected. f. Radiology Examination Radiology examinations are conducted to enable our doctors to make diagnosis, assess progress of disease and provide minimal invasive treatment for patients. g. Laboratory Examination Specimen tests are conducted in our laboratory on a 24-hour basis. Test results are assured by our strict adherence to internal and external quality assessment schemes. h. Pastoral Care Our Pastoral Care Department is staffed by volunteers who visit the wards regularly. Clinical Pastoral Care provides supportive service to both our patients and their family members who are experiencing traumas coping with illnesses, incapacitation, terminal illnesses and death by offering support and counsel through listening, empathizing and encouraging expression of emotions. i. Medical Social Work Service Our medical social workers advise and guide our patients and their families who have social and/ or psychological problems by assessing their psycho-social state. Our medical social workers will also recommend relevant agencies for aid whenever necessary to the patients or families in need. |
